It’s Halloween and time to
commune with the spirits. As a writer of paranormal, and every other type of
erotic romance known to woman, I find the spirit world fascinating. Especially
when everyday reality is not exactly working out.
After an exotic summer
vacation, I ended up with a health problem and inspiration to write a book. This
all led to a fascination with Bob Marley and reggae. After reading on his
Facebook site that he helped a fan through more than a few difficult times, I
knew I wasn’t alone.
In the ranks of Elvis, he was
one of the few people larger than life. So large it’s as if he’s still with us
30 years later. The local grocery store is even selling Bob Marley tea. I
believe he lives on through his music and message. As writers, what we create
will last forever. Creativity is one of the most powerful forces there is, and
when one creator uses what another created to create something new, it’s unstoppable.
I’m reading his biography
now, which is full of research material (including Jamaican patois) I can apply
to my latest work in progress. I played a CD of one of his concerts, dancing
and becoming his creative energy. I’ve had it checked out so long, it’s a wonder
Netflix hasn’t come after it. And while doing karaoke recently at RomantiCon, I
did one of his songs, dancing and singing the way he did. It was almost as if
he was in the room.
Or maybe I’m just weird because
I’m a writer…

You asked: So whose spirit would you channel if you could?
I would love to be Minnie Riperton for a day or so. She had the most amazing voice and range! I listen to her now and think what if she had lived....that woman would have taken the world by storm. Imagine, doing karaoke with her voice. Perfect! :-)

I didn't realize she sang Lovin' You. Fantastic voice. Thanks for stopping by, Belinda!
Gosh that is a tough choice.
Probably Freddy Mercury, he was such a showman.

I am not sure... Thanks for being a part of the hop...

Freddy Mercury is definitely larger than life.
I think I would channel Whitney Houston. Her voice was truly amazing. She also had a lot of spunk and zest for life in her younger days!

Yes, Whitney was truly amazing. Was shocked at her early passing.
I think I would choose Marilyn Monroe because she was so interesting and beautiful.
Thanks for the giveaway!

You know, I could use so much positive energy. I'm going to check out Bob Marley (love his music. I think I would love to channel Edgar Cayce. I'm sure I'd freak out most of my non-reading family, but oh, what a wonderful experience it would be. I could get a cure for my thus far undiagnosed illness. Wouldn't that be wonderful? Thanks for the great giveaway. michelle_willms(at)yahoo(dot)com
Yes Meghan, Marilyn Monroe had a magical quality. Michelle, Edgar Cayce is a great one as well. Hope you find the healing you need.
Billy the kid. I would love to know if he lived to be an old man or if really was killed when he was younger.

Yes, the American West is full of fascinating spirits, kimmyl.
I'm not sure who I would pick to channel.
Thanks for the chance to win!
Happy Halloween!

Well, all of this channeling is working! I got inspired to write a sequel to my Jamaica story. I think it's going to be a menage. Characters can be so demanding.
I'd love to channel Edgar Allan Poe. I'm a darker writer, and I could use his brain to pick and gain some inspiration. Thanks for the chance to win!

Jillyn, Edgar Allen Poe wrote some great stories. I recommend watching the movie that acts them out.

This is a tough choice. I would probably like to channel Walt Disney. Completely cheesy but I'm a huge Disney fan. Thanks for the giveaway!
i_love_books at aol dot com
Disney is a cool choice!
I'm a big country music fan so I think I would channel Pasty Cline. She was a wonderful singer.

Patsy Cline was legendary. The Rainbow in Virginia is a club where she sang.
Definitely Jim Morrison!
