I remember the scent of his
cologne and can’t help wondering what if I’d been stronger? If that situation happened
now, and if I knew he was the love of my life, I would fight to be with him, no
question. My heroine in Rose, Exposed struggles
with the same issue.
I started writing interracial
romance because it adds another dimension of conflict, making the happily ever
after an even sweeter reward. I set these books in historical time periods
because racial tensions were even stronger then.
Rose, Exposed
http://www.ellorascave.com/rose-exposed.html
When Leroy gets promoted at
the new oyster plant on Pearl Point, all he cares about is working hard. Then
he meets flirtatious artist Rose, and soon nothing matters except getting her
to the altar and into bed. He’s healing from a recent loss, and isn’t about to
let her go too.
Because Rose’s strict,
social-climbing father doesn’t approve of dark-skinned Leroy, they court in
secret. Although Leroy’s raw passion can convince her to do almost anything,
why can’t he understand she needs freedom, not marriage? However, in the 1930s,
freedom for any woman is hard to come by.
In Leroy’s arms, Rose finds
unimaginable sensual pleasures, but she’s torn by desire and duty. Her father
wants her to be white; Leroy wants her to embrace her black heritage. Playing
both sides of the fence leaves this young biracial beauty exposed in more ways
than one.

Thanks, Meghan. All my books are steamy!
Hi! Great post! I love this hop! Its great to see so many on here! :) I love the sound of your book! Im sorry that you never got to know the guy. Its great that you think of him, of the what if's, and you wrote a story about it. And i love the happy ending! People make way to much a fuss on skin color. Its ridiculous. Its a color, were all the same. People are so simple minded and i feel sorry for them. IR couples are beautiful and i love it that, in our society, they dont give a damn about what others think. People should chase there happiness. When i look at people, i dont see color. I see personalities, uniqueness, difference. And i love it! People who are racist need to quit. Grow up, open there eyes and embrace others. Our world would be terribly boring if we were all the same. I love that were all different. Thank you!

Well said, Shadow.
I didn't even know about anti-miscegenation laws until recently. My first reaction was disbelief that there'd be a law against loving someone. I have an old I/R manuscript that takes place in the 1960s. I think I might dust it off and revise it.
Afton you said: "I remember the scent of his cologne and can’t help wondering what if I’d been stronger?"
Those "what if" moments are always tough to judge in hindsight. Obvious there was some connection because you are talking about it to this day. Have you ever tried to find him? That would be interesting and perhaps some closure. Your new book seems to address some of these issues. But it seems we haven't moved too far from that mark which is a shame.
Thanks for sharing and the opportunity to also share!

That's a good point, Belinda. Being married, I'm not in a position to rekindle anything, but the closure would be good, to explain what went through my mind then.
It would be a great plot for a second-chance-at-love romance!
Congratulations, Shadow. You have won a copy of Plucking the Pearl!
There's nothing wrong about interracial dating. What's absolutely important is that you are able to focus your activity on anyone whom you adulation dearly. Focus your activity on her and it is acceptable she will acknowledge you for it.
interracial dating sites
Well said, Christina. I finally watched the Loving Day documentary. It showed a close-up view of the struggles the couple endured. I recommend it to anyone interested in the subject.
well, love is just love. interracial love or interracial dating is people's choice. and you see there so many interracial dating websites for people .so it's not a taboo.
